Description
This ribbed mixing bowl is a product of the Watt Pottery Company of Crooksville, Ohio, who began production of its first hand-decorated ware in 1949.It measures approximately 4 ½” in height with an 8” diameter and features a bright band of turquoise and pink set against a cream-colored clay background.
This piece is from the company’s “Kitch-N-Queen” ovenware line that was introduced in 1955.
Much of Watt pottery was given away as premiums with the purchase of certain items or services and many also became advertising pieces, such as this bowl.
Featured on this bowl is the following advertising, “Compliments of Ward Furniture Co. Durham, N.C.”
that “was imprinted onto the dried and decorated ware before the piece was dipped into the final glaze”.
It is marked on the base with a faint imprint, “Watt – 8 – USA – Oven Ware”.
This vintage mixing bowl has some crazing, discolorations on the base and on the interior, a few small chips/abrasions to the turquoise band, a few blemishes on the pink band, a small spider crack (could have occurred during production) and multiple manufacturing flaws.
Despite these flaws this Watt advertising premium ware mixing bowl is in good condition with no other evidence of damage.
