Description
"The Selling Fool"This wonderful and very rare, 15 1/2" tall,
wood segmented
(articulated and
metal spring-strung
) advertising figure, called
'The Selling Fool', "RADIOTRONS",
was designed by
Joseph Kallus, owner of Cameo Doll Co, Brooklyn, N.Y., circa 1926-30

distribution to feature RCA products
after the popular
Maxfield Parrish illustration.
This company also designed other famous, wood segmented character dolls such as,
Betty Boop, Jeep, Pete the Pup, General Electric Bandy*, Joy, King Little and many others.
He has multiple joints and features the
original advertising labels
on both the front and back of his jacket as well as on his tall,
gold
radiotron

.
The slits in his hands are for holding cards for special advertising or sale prices. Due to his age and use there is normal paint crazing but no damages or missing segments. There are no cracks, chips or broken parts.
He's featured on the cover and on page 126 of,
"Hake's Guide to Advertising Collectibles: 100 Years of Advertising from 100 Famous Companies"-Ted Hake and will make a terrific addition to any advertising doll collection. (loc 18) Dolls and figures in last photos (General Electric Bandy*, Betty Boop, Felix, JOY, etc.) are
not included
