A historical snapshot, this map of the Soviet Union was produced only 21 months before the USSR was dismantled; thus it has historic value. On the map-side is a classic National Geographic cartographic map of the old USSR. The reverse-side contains a wealth of information about the USSR, starting with information of the countries that were contained within. There is also a series of map insets showing the growth from the early Slavic expansion in 600 AD , through wars and revolution, to the eventual Soviet sphere which encompassed a sixth of the earth's surface at one time, before collapsing.

1976-2 Peoples of the Soviet Union;
1990-3 Soviet Union (pre-collapse);
1993-3 Communism to Capitalism, The Economic Revolution of the Former Soviet Union (post-collapse)
